Teacher Educator Technology Competencies (TETCs) and Open Educational Practices (OEPr)
This multimodal presentation will critically analyze the teacher educator technology competencies (TETCs) as presented by Foulger, Graziano, Schmidt-Crawford, & Slykhuis (2017) through a lens of open educational practices (OEPr) as defined by Koseoglu & Bozkurt (2018) and Nascimbeni & Burgos (2016). After contextually defining open educational resources (OER), open pedagogies (OEP) and open educational practices (OEPr), the presenter while examining the critical role of technology competencies of teacher educators in twelve strategic areas (Foulger et al., 2017). By interrogating their own OEPr, participants can examine the TETCs framework and create connections to their own higher education (HE) teaching contexts. The TETCs will be explored as a foundational framework for OEPr within face to face, blended, flipped, or fully online contexts. Digital technologies will be used to create interactive and engaging activities so participants can critically examine their OEPr within the TETC framework. This presentation aims to illuminate the TETCs framework, explore models for OEPr, specifically within the field of teacher education, and catalyze conversations in order to promote the transformation of teaching practices.
