To this point, there has been no comprehensive attempt to document these examples or extant reflections on the experience. This paper seeks to accomplish two things: to offer something akin to a literature review of the role of openness in the pursuit of tenure to this point, and to map out the plan for my own nascent tenure journey. I also want to make space to acknowledge the affective experience of choosing to pursue tenure in the open \u2013 it is, indeed, wildly scary \u2013 and to explore how a community invested in the role of openness in post-secondary education might work to support tenure candidates to choose an open process where possible (or indeed, to render an existing closed process open through some combination of hard work and bloody-mindedness).
