Research Libraries’ Engagement with Open
This session will present a quick overview of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL)’s advocacy and strategy work related to open scholarship, while also offering an opportunity to offer feedback on increasing collaboration between research libraries and educators active in open education and scholarship. CARL’s activities in the area of open scholarship include: engagement with federal funding agencies and with the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS), a study of research libraries’ spending on supporting the open infrastructure, creation of the research data management initiative Portage, and amplification of open education successes and challenges. Attendees will be invited to provide thoughts on how to maximize joint impact by libraries and scholars regarding advancing open in higher education.
