Knowledge Authority and Core Curriculum
This presentation discusses a developmental evaluation of cross-cultural learning and core curriculum in remote and diverse Northern Australia. In this presentation I will share the development process, emergent outcomes of the evaluation for learning design and implications for how students engage with core curriculum. A suite of new core units at CDU’s College of Indigenous Futures, Arts, and Society cover contentious social policy intersections and systems of governance; regional infrastructure, ecology, and economic futures; cultural capabilities and Indigenous Australian focusses. The curriculum also does this via open educational practices which incorporate transferable information, academic and digital literacies, and skills. The open practices and humanities-based relational approaches to learning across disciplines and cultural knowledge systems will be discussed for its relevance to students’ and staff academic and professional capabilities as we continue to evolve how we manage majority of knowledge work online in a (hopefully) post-Covid world.
